Welcome
Welcome to the WiseRighteous Network volunteer community.
Thank you for choosing to contribute your time, skills, knowledge, and creativity. Volunteers are an important part of our work. Through their contributions, volunteers help us develop educational resources, support programs, conduct research, create digital content, maintain projects, and serve the broader community.
This Volunteer Orientation Guide provides general information for volunteers across WiseRighteous Network and its subprograms, projects, and initiatives.
It is an evergreen guide. Individual projects may provide additional instructions when needed.
1. About WiseRighteous Network

Strengthening individual and organizational righteousness by guiding its daily practice through creative wisdom.
Our work includes developing educational resources, research, digital collections, community programs, and other initiatives that encourage thoughtful and responsible practice.
WiseRighteous Network may operate through different subprograms, projects, websites, and initiatives. Each may have its own specific mission and activities while contributing to the broader mission of WiseRighteous Network.

3. Orientation
Before beginning a volunteer assignment, we provide the information needed to understand:
- WiseRighteous Network and the mission of the relevant subprogram or project
- The volunteer’s responsibilities
- Expected deliverables
- Communication procedures
- How volunteer hours are recorded
- How volunteer certificates or service verification are issued
Orientation does not always require a meeting.
For a simple or short-term project, orientation may be provided through email, written instructions, or a brief online conversation.
For ongoing or more complex projects, additional orientation, training, or guidance may be provided as needed.
4. Your Volunteer Assignment
Each volunteer assignment should provide enough information for you to understand what you are being asked to do.
Depending on the project, you may receive:
- Project name
- Project purpose
- Background information
- Specific tasks
- Expected deliverables
- Estimated or approved volunteer hours
- Deadline or service period
- Communication contact
- Submission instructions
- Additional project requirements
You do not need to know everything before beginning.
If something is unclear, please ask before proceeding.
5. Responsibilities of Volunteers
We ask volunteers to:
Be Reliable
Complete agreed assignments within the expected timeframe or communicate promptly if circumstances change.
Communicate
Ask questions when you need clarification and keep the project coordinator informed of significant issues or delays.
Be Accurate
Take reasonable care with information, research, writing, data, and other work.
Respect Others
Treat staff, volunteers, students, partners, contributors, and members of the community respectfully.
Protect Information
Handle unpublished materials, personal information, project information, and organizational information responsibly.
Follow Instructions
Follow the project instructions and any applicable policies provided by WiseRighteous Network or the relevant subprogram.
Take Ownership
Complete your assigned work carefully and communicate when you believe additional information or assistance is needed.
6. Communication
Most volunteer communication may take place through email or other communication methods designated for a particular project.
Your project coordinator may provide:
- Instructions
- Questions or clarification
- Project updates
- Feedback
- Deadline information
- Completion confirmation
Please check the communication channel being used for your project and respond when a response is needed.
For student volunteers, communication may also involve a parent, guardian, teacher, school coordinator, or other appropriate adult when required by the circumstances of the project.
7. Volunteer Hours
Volunteer hours are based on actual service performed.
Depending on the project, WiseRighteous Network may establish an estimated or approved number of hours before the assignment begins.
Volunteers should keep reasonable track of the time they spend performing assigned volunteer work.
Volunteer records may include:
- Volunteer name
- Project or assignment
- Date or service period
- Hours contributed
- Description of work
- Completion status
Time spent performing the assigned work may be counted as volunteer service. Time spent on unrelated personal activities generally should not be reported as volunteer hours.
For projects with a predetermined service-hour requirement, the project coordinator may establish the expected or approved number of hours before work begins.
8. Project Completion
When you believe your assignment is complete, submit the required deliverables according to the project instructions.
The project coordinator may review the work to determine whether the assignment has been completed.
Completion may involve:
- Submission of a document
- Completion of research
- Website or digital work
- Proofreading or editing
- Creation of educational materials
- Completion of an event or program assignment
- Another agreed project deliverable
If revisions are needed, the coordinator may provide feedback or request additional work related to the original assignment.
9. Volunteer Certificates and Service Verification
Volunteer service may be documented after the applicable assignment or service period has been completed.
Depending on the nature of the volunteer service, WiseRighteous Network may provide:
- Volunteer hour verification
- Service confirmation
- Volunteer certificate
- Letter of recommendation, when appropriate
- Other recognition of service
Documentation is based on the volunteer service actually completed and the records available to WiseRighteous Network.
A certificate or verification document does not necessarily indicate a particular number of hours unless the documented service supports that number.
For students requesting documentation for school service requirements, volunteers should communicate their school’s requirements to the project coordinator when appropriate.
10. Feedback and Review
For some projects, the coordinator may provide feedback on completed work.
Feedback may address:
- Accuracy
- Completeness
- Quality
- Communication
- Project requirements
- Areas for improvement
Feedback is intended to help volunteers learn and improve while also helping the project achieve its goals.
For short and simple assignments, a formal review may not be necessary.
11. Working With a Subprogram or Project
WiseRighteous Network may have multiple subprograms, projects, and initiatives.
A volunteer may therefore receive instructions from the coordinator responsible for a particular project.
The project may have:
- Its own project name
- Its own website
- Its own educational or research purpose
- Specific project procedures
- Specific deliverables
- Specific communication methods
However, volunteers remain part of the broader WiseRighteous Network volunteer community while serving on the project.
Project-specific instructions supplement this general Volunteer Orientation Guide.
12. Short-Term Projects
Not every volunteer needs a formal orientation meeting.
For a simple one-time assignment, the process may be:
Interest → Project Instructions → Volunteer Work → Completion → Hours Verification
For example, a volunteer may be asked to proofread a digital article.
The volunteer may receive:
- The article
- Proofreading instructions
- Expected completion time
- Deadline
- Submission instructions
After the work is completed and reviewed, the volunteer’s service may be recorded.
13. Ongoing Volunteer Service
For volunteers participating regularly, the process may be more complete:
Interest → Registration → Orientation → Project Assignment → Ongoing Service → Review → Recognition
Ongoing volunteers may receive additional information, training, or responsibilities as they become familiar with the project.
Greater responsibilities may be offered based on:
- Experience
- Skills
- Reliability
- Interests
- Project needs
- Quality of previous contributions
14. Students and Young Volunteers
WiseRighteous Network welcomes appropriate volunteer opportunities for students.
Student assignments may include:
- Research
- Editing and proofreading
- Educational content
- Website assistance
- Digital museum projects
- Writing
- Graphic or media projects
- Other age-appropriate activities
Student assignments should have clear expectations and appropriate supervision.
Some projects may have additional requirements depending on the student’s age, school requirements, the nature of the work, or the involvement of personal information or public-facing content.
Students should communicate any school requirements for volunteer hours or documentation before beginning an assignment when possible.
15. Quality of Service
We value the quality and thoughtfulness of a volunteer’s contribution rather than simply the number of hours reported.
A meaningful contribution may be a small project completed carefully and responsibly.
Volunteers are encouraged to:
Learn → Contribute → Create → Serve → Grow
The purpose of volunteering is not simply to accumulate hours. It is an opportunity to learn, serve others, develop skills, and contribute to meaningful work.
16. If You Have Questions
If you are unsure about:
- What you are expected to do
- How to complete an assignment
- How to record your hours
- What to submit
- A project deadline
- A communication procedure
- Volunteer documentation
Please ask your project coordinator.
It is always better to ask a question than to make an incorrect assumption.
For general volunteer questions, contact:
17. Final Reminder
Every volunteer contributes to the character of the organization.
We encourage volunteers to approach their work with:
Integrity • Responsibility • Respect • Care • Wisdom • Service
Thank you for contributing your time and abilities to WiseRighteous Network.
We are grateful for your service.
Contribute → Learn → Create → Serve → Grow
